Step by step: how to fit wall lights

1. Plan your lighting layout

• Measure and mark positions before drilling.
• Typical mounting height is about 150 to 170 cm from finished floor level.
• For multiple fittings on one wall, keep roughly 2.5 to 3 m between units for balanced illumination.

2. Turn off the power

• Isolate the circuit at your consumer unit or fuse box.
• Confirm isolation with a voltage tester before touching any conductors.

3. Mount the bracket

• Drill pilot holes and insert suitable wall plugs for plasterboard, brick, or block.
• Fix the mounting plate firmly so there is no movement.

4. Wire the light

Follow UK wiring colour codes:

• Brown is live.
• Blue is neutral.
• Green and Yellow is earth.

• Strip about 5 mm of insulation from each conductor.
• Insert into the correct terminals and tighten fully.
• Ensure there are no loose strands or exposed copper.

• Insert a compatible bulb that does not exceed the rated wattage.
